Sheila & David Ellis arriving Sunday |
Message: |
Welcome Sheila and David to this most Canadian of Canadian lodges. We know you will be well looked after, have fabulous meals and wonder at the magnificent scenery. Do take advantage of the house canoe - there is simply nothing more blissful at this time of year than drifting along accompanied by a loon or two close to beautiful Killarney Lodge.
Enjoy your stay!

Loons |
Message: |
My wife and I stayed here a few years ago and had a magical time. Every day we watched mum and dad Loon teaching their young to swim/dive and sit on mum's back just 50 m. away from our cabin.
Just can't remember what time of year that was.
When would the Loon have such young?
Killarney Lodge replies:
The Loons lay their eggs in June, and the eggs hatch after one month or so. The baby loons are fed and cared for until the fall when they are all able to migrate south. It's always a lovely sight to see the parents taking turns swimming with the babies on their backs.

Oh ---the Soup! |
Message: |
We had the pleasure of lunching at Killarney Lodge this past Sept. while visiting Algonquin for an extended period of time. It had been
a little wet and cold so this was a perfect solution. What a treat! And the butternut squash soup was absolutely delicious. In fact, I'm requesting the recipe.
It is well worth the drive to Algonquin just for lunch at Killarney Lodge. |

Visit to Killarney Lodge |
Message: |
On a whim, I googled Killarney Lodge to see if it still existed. I was thrilled to see your web site and recognize the cabins and surroundings. My husband and I visited on a 3800 mile whirlwind trip from our home in St Louis, Missouri to Washington D.C., Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, Niagara Falls and Toronto. Traveling with two children, by the time we reached the Algonquin Park, we were exhausted. When I go to my "quiet place" now, I always picture myself sitting on the porch of one of your cabins in a rocking chair watching my family fish. I think I sat there for two days straight, not moving except for sleep and meals, which by the way were exceptional. Hope someday I will be able to return. |

Best Wishes for 2010 |
Message: |
Thank you for sending me the brochure for 2010. I will always have fond memories of the Lodge, as we spent our Honeymoon there in 1944 (before your time) and our 60th Anniversary with you in 2004. Unfortunately, our health problems prevent our ability to enjoy the "out of doors" and all the services you provide, but we remember all of these things and wish you a very successful Season. It was nice to read about the activities of the Family and Staff members. Please give our best regards to Ramona Kargus, who was our favorite waitress during our last visit.
Best wishes, Fred and Iris Hanmore.

My best friend Sue and I can't wait to come in June to celebrate a BIG birthday together ;) I can already envision myself in the dining lodge, looking out at the gardens enjoying my breakfast or dinner :) All day long we can play and hike, canoe, swim and I will try out a couple of my lens' while there. Can't wait! #24...and Eric and Poppy, it will be great to see you all! I celebrate 4 years of new life after my heart transplant, and this past year I met my donors family :) Wonderful people . Thank you God, and Emily Compton for giving me my life and allowing me to return to one of my favorite places on earth!
When I stand at the top of Centennial Ridges, Algonquin will hear my "whoo hoooooooooooo!" Debra Kuhnly. Ormond Beach, Florida :)

Visit |
Message: |
My girlfriend Susan and I are SO looking forward to visiting again. We have been visiting off and on for 13 years. We were last there 2 years ago...Sue's Dad was really ill, and has sadly passed away. I was VERY ILL also, and I really thought it would be the last time I ever saw Killarney. I was too ill to walk far, hike, or paddle, but I loved it still. THIS YEAR my best friend and I will celebrate our birthdays, AND our lifelong friendship at the lodge. THIS YEAR I plan to DO IT ALL having received the "GIFT OF LIFE" through a heart transplant just this past EASTER SUNDAY!...It will be a time to renew, reflect and BE JOYFUL in all that life has given us, despite bumps in the road...Centennial Ridges... HERE I COME!!!

Many Years Ago |
Message: |
Wow, I can't believe that Killarney Lodge is still going strong. Actually I can, because my late husband, my kids and I visited the Lodge many years ago and really enjoyed ourselves. The food was excellent. I am so glad to see a web site for the Lodge. By the way, my kids are all grown up with kids of their own and we still talk about Killarney. Thanks for the memories and the good times. Donna Schirle
